Second Batch Successfully Concludes the Hemas Pharmaceuticals – Pharmacists Skills Development Program

The second batch of the Hemas Pharmaceuticals- Pharmacy Personnel Skills Development program concluded successfully with the Certificate Awarding Ceremony being held recently in Colombo.

Hemas Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Sri Lanka launched the Pharmacists Skill Development Programme in 2019 with the prime objective of gearing pharmacists with the necessary skills, qualifications, and training to serve patients better. The unique career development program, conducted free of charge provides a comprehensive knowledge to the students who wish to sit for the  proficiency exam by Sri Lanka Medical Council in order to qualify as a registered pharmacist.

The second batch which commenced in 2021 was conducted completely through online platforms due to restrictions in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the dedication of both the Academic staff and the students during these challenging times is highly commendable. 35 students successfully passed the final examination which covered a gamut of learning areas ranging from Pharmaceutics, pharmacology , pharmacy management and customer care among many other subjects.

The Pharmacists Skill Development Programme focus on the existing Pharmacy personnel in order to equip them with a recognized and credible qualification that will help them pursue further accreditations to enhance their careers. This sustainability initiative by Hemas Pharmaceuticals also promotes patient safety in terms of medicine purchase and usage as it ensures that there are qualified and trained professionals serving customers.
